Phase Four Page One

The Brotherhood sent one of their members up to the rooftop to act as a lookout, and it's a good thing they did! What with the X-men and their trusty New Recruits showing up. Unfortunately for the Brotherhood, Jean sensed a presence on the roof, and sent fire up to play with fire. Or, maybe the blind fighting the blind would be more appropriate....

PHASE FOUR! That's right people, Phase Four! IN COLOUR! I was determined to get this phase all done in colour. If only for the simple fact that the girls will be invisible a lot of the time and I need to give you SOMETHING to look at. And look! Digitally added text! Yay for some non scribbled in pencil writing! Also! YAY FOR INCONSISTENCY! See, I have to make it a good thing or I would not be happy with this comic. Just pretend that the bushes and trees are not moving and changing size and shape all on their own...

So... Nina is being rather negative about this mission... Perhaps it's the after effects of Rogue's lesson. Or the bushes... It can't be comfortable sitting there... all those twigs poking at you. It's a good thing Amy and Lucy can't hear her narration. Although it's probably weird enough that she hasn't said anything yet.

It makes me sad that Ava didn't have a cameo here... Nina at least mentioned her in the previous phases. I just couldn't think of a way to start to include her, without starting from when everyone was told about the mission and that put too much focus on Jean. Which would probably break the rules and I don't particularly want to draw her anyway. However, I do still have two pages to draw, I'm betting Ava gets some love by the end.

Lionheart and The Onion do get tiny cameos though! Yay for them!

Planning this comic was a challenge and took FOREVER! Making it work when everyone is going to be invisible was difficult, but I personally couldn't have them visible because then it would just end up with a simple fist fight or a "why are you doing this?!" conversation and that's not mutant-y at all. Or I just like to make things hard on myself.

Aside from my horrible attempt at shading Nina's hair, I'm quite happy with my pencils this time around. Although somehow I lost the ability to draw Amy and Lucy... They look different to how I drew them in Phase Two. I probably should have used my Phase Two for reference...

Paranoia of something going horribly wrong seems to have hit me, so I'm going to upload each page as soon as they're finished. More tomorrow!
